Careful there Whirlpool. Went appliance shopping yesterday (no, not at the Toyota dealer) in search of a new dryer. The pictures above (or left, or wherever kinja places them relative to this text) were taken of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! which also happens to be part of their Cabrio line. Yup, a Cabrio... with EcoBoost... Not sure who coined the phrase first, but the oldest dated Google result I found for the Whirlpool EcoBoost was from 2010. What's next from Whirlpool? An AMG (Automatic Moisture Get-ridderer)? GTI (Gentle Tumble Induction)?

If they can make it do a wash cycle on one litre of water, then it would be a 1.0l Ecoboost.

I think it should be phrased "Whirlpool may have a lawsuit on their hands..." - the way you worded it sounds like someone should sue Ford.

They even used the same capitalization. Maybe, though, it actually has a turbocharged V6. Car-engined kitchen appliances have been extremely successful before...

I meant it as Ford has the opportunity to sue. The first sentence kinda clarifies that.

To this day, my father doesn't believe in technological washers and dryers. He thinks they're beyond ineffective compared to this piece of shit.

I know what you meant, that's why I indicated that it is phrased incorrectly.

Knowing Ford they will. It's crazy how the made Ferrari change the name of their F1 car a year ago.

The dead giveaway is the lint trap looks just like an Aston Martin grill.

Two different industries. Ford has the rights to the EcoBoost name as it relates to automobiles, but it likely doesn't extend beyond that.

Yeah, that's why I can leave the lid closed on my 23 year old Kitchen Aid washer but my buddy with the new front load Maytag has to leave the door open to keep it from mildewing, turning black inside and stinking like a car with a leaky sunroof. Darn that old technology.

And slow, destructive and not-so-conservative with water.

Actually, the model I looked at in the store said at least an hour for most of the cycles. My current one will clean a full to the brim load in about a half hour. My laundry has held up just fine in my current washer with an agitator. And it lets me control the water level. It's not archaic, but it is still probably about 15 years old or so. Few parts broke over the years and they cost no more than $50 and required no special tools.
It is the same reason Jalops hang on to their older, simpler cars. No reason spending 700 on a new appliance that might be a bit quicker, less destructive, and maybe save some water, when you can keep your old one running with a $40 dollar part and a half hour of your time. You don't junk your car when the starter breaks just because a new car will perform better and be more efficient.
